What is the Photo Festival?
The Photo Festival is an event being organised and Facilitated by The Church of The Resurrection, Blarney.
It is being organised as a community celebration of the art of photography, whilst also raising funds for Marymount Hospice and the parish’s Tearfund link project in Cambodia.
However it is much more than just a fundraiser – it is about showcasing lots of different people’s photographic talents. We are hoping that camera clubs, professional photographers, hobbyists and ordinary “point ‘n’ clickers” of all ages will hunt through their back catalogue and/or get out and about over the next few months and print out some of their best pictures.
The centre of this festival will be “The Showcase” – Running from Friday to Sunday we hope to have hundreds of photographs mounted and hung around our local parish church – on the theme of “What a Wonderful World”.
We will also be providing the legendary Blarney hospitality to our visitors – tea, coffee and buns will be available throughout the opening hours and all visitors are welcome.
We are looking for people to share their photos with us … take a look here for more information.
What else is happening?
During the weekend we hope to run certain other events including:
- Workshops for beginners on digital photography
- A Photo walk which anyone with a camera is more than welcome to participate in from The church – around the local area where all are welcome to chat and share skills together.
- Sunday All age service surrounded by reminders of our wonderful world – All are welcome to attend
Church of the Resurrection is the ideal location for this PhotoFest as it is a lovely family parish church pride of place in the square in the busy village community of Blarney with easy road networks. We hope that visitors will come from near and far to join with us in this unique and festival of photographs. We are just across the village green from the legendary Blarney Castle.
