An Olympic themed holiday Club!
2011 – ‘Seaside Rock’
was the theme for the 2011 Holiday Club for children in National School which ran from Tuesday 26th – Friday 29th July from 10am-12.30pm in Scoil Mhuire gan Smal, Blarney.
was the Blarney Holiday Club 2010 in Scoil Mhuire gan Smal, Blarney. 60 of Primary School age had lots of fun with games, songs, Bible stories, quizzes and memory verses. Again – thanks to April, Matt & Katie – and their wonderful team – who all seemed to have a great time too!
2009 was Pyramid Rock –
33 children came to the Pyramid Rock Holiday Club which was planned and run by April, Katie and Matt—and ‘manned’ by a team of volunteers, including a great band of teenagers from the parish. Special guest, ‘Captain Ketchup’ (who made a surprise appearance in church in Blarney the next Sunday!), was a favourite with children and team! Along with Matt and some video clips, Captain Ketchup helped us all learn about the story of Joseph—and about how God had a plan for his life, helped him in all situations, forgave him and helped him forgive others and was the King of his life—and the world! We thought about how God had plans for our lives too—how he helps us—how he forgives us and helps us forgive others—and how he can be OUR King! It was a busy week—we sang and danced, we did crafts and bible study, we prayed, we played (even soccer in the rain!)—and how we laughed! At the end of a busy morning one ‘customer’ was horrified that the time had gone so fast—’it feels as if we’ve just been here five minutes’, he declared!
Thank you to Rosemary and Joan for the refreshments every day, and to the staff of Scoil Mhuire gan Smal for looking after us so well. Thank you so much April, Katie and Matt—and all the team of volunteers—and thank you Lord!
In the summer of 2008 Holiday Clubs for National School aged children were held in the Church of the Resurrection in Blarney on Saturday afternoons and in the Parish Centre, Carrigrohane on 3 mornings in August. We had a great time – and sometimes it didn’t rain!
