Welcome to Vision 2015-18
Our mission is to be an authentic, open community of all ages and stages:
+ Making whole-life disciples of Jesus who live and share His gospel.
+ Praying, playing and learning together.
+ Worshipping God passionately.
The text in this section of our website has been distributed as a vision pack which is currently being circulated around the parish during December 2014 in preparation for the next 3 years.
It is an amazing fact that Vision has been a way of life for Carrigrohane Union of Parishes (CUP).
There was vision when years earlier, an old school was turned into a parish hall, and later the Parish Centre and Office. In Blarney some dreamed of a future for the Church when faced with closure, so that today it shines as a light for Christ. Vision led to new ministries being created for Blarney and our young people. More recently, the Glade has added to St Senan’s being a place apart, a sacred space. Behind it all, has been the Select Vestry which has had the Vision to support all these initiatives.
Now we sense God’s hand as we launch Vision 2015- 2018. It is comprehensive as it touches every aspect of our life together – the OUT Mission, the IN Relationships, the UP Worship.
When the Vision Development Group (VDG) set out on its task two years ago, we could not have realised how timely the work would become, as we urgently respond to the huge cultural changes taking place locally, and in the Global Village, while honouring and investing in the historic and locally signifcant parishes of Blarney, Carrigrohane, and Inniscarra.
We believe God is leading us into an exciting future, and we now welcome you to take the time to read this Mission Statement and Vision Document, and the additional “Turning Vision into Reality” cards, to share what God is leading us into for Carrigrohane Union of Parishes. It is a call to reimagine church but only as we grow in love for one and another and Jesus, who said:
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and me in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

Vision 2015-18 will …
• Develop a church community that has its heart open to God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
• Recapture the weekly priority of worshipping together over the idols of the world with a simplified start time for all services.
• Cultivate worship that is refective, exciting, and empowering.
• Beginning from January to June 2015, with an exciting “taster” series of Sunday services as we respond to the diverse ways we all encounter God through a medley of worship styles with different emphases i.e.
iGen – The Intergenerational Service – Worshipping together and creatively exploring God’s word.
Roots – The Prayer Book Services Rejoicing in the beauty and simplicity of the formal BCP services of Holy Communion and Morning Prayer.
SundayAM – The Contemporary Service – Worshipping passionately to pursue God’s presence and enjoy teaching that is in- depth and speaks to the times we live in. Learn the lessons from the “taster” and put into practice.

Making whole-life disciples of Jesus who live and share His gospel
Fresh Expression in Ballincollig
We are committed over the next two years, to establishing a sustainable and credible witness in Ballincollig and where we have dreams to be a source of blessing in the town for example by developing youth work, family ministry and a toy library.
Gunge and Glue – bricks and mortar for a fresh expression of Church in Blarney? The Lighthouse has been shining the Light of Christ for some years now, with its mix of Bible stories and gunge and glue etc! Vision 2015-18 will invest time and resources into Lighthouse to establish a fresh expression of church linking those on the “Messy Edges” of church into a “Messy Church”.
Vision 2015-18 will re-set the compass for our mission in each church, using the tool: M.A.P Mission Action Planning e.g. How might we use the beauty of St Senan’s Inniscarra to foster Christian spirituality, creation care and reach points West on the compass?
Vision 2015-18 will also set the compass beyond our shores by: Knocking on the Door of the Global Village
- Celebrate & develop relationships with the world church.
An authentic community of all ages and stages….
praying, playing and learning together….
Discipleship with “L plates” 80% of members of all ages meeting in small groups to grow, share and pray together, open to those who are searching and enquiring, as well as those whose faith is established. Vision 2015-18 will:
• Provide openings to make it easier for new members to join, • Widen the focus to speak to current issues and needs.
• Foster the huge welcoming and nurturing role our small groups have for Christians from other traditions and/or none at all.
An annual “House Party” to relax, have fun and grow together!
Waking up to Intergenerational Church as special!
Developing Leaders in all sorts of “shapes and sizes” – through the “Growing Leaders” courses for adults and young people.
T E A M… Together Everyone Achieves More – placing a greater emphasis on team ministry, where natural and spiritual gifts are shared in a supportive environment. Enjoying God – rest and rhythms making service enjoyable as we receive all that God wants to Fill us and bless us with.
